Lusaka, Zambia
Private, personally-guided days around the city and out into the bush: markets, elephants, museums and game drives, planned and led by someone who actually lives here.
The Compass
Lusaka Compass Safaris is a small, personally-guided outfit built around a simple idea: the best way into a place is with someone who already loves it. Every trip is planned and led directly by Petros Talimi, with private transport, flexible pacing, and routes shaped around what you actually want to see, not a fixed bus schedule.
"A lovely, relaxed day exploring the real Lusaka." Petros
The Country
Zambia doesn't get the tourist numbers its neighbors do, and that's most of the appeal. Vast parks, real bush, and wildlife you're not sharing with a line of minivans. It's landlocked, roughly the size of Texas, and named for the Zambezi, the river that carves along its southern border and over Victoria Falls. It's also home, in the most literal sense: Petros grew up in the Copperbelt, the copper-mining heartland that still shapes the country's identity today.

108m · Mosi-oa-Tunya
Victoria Falls, known locally as "the smoke that thunders," drops 108 meters and stretches over a mile across the Zambezi, the river that gives Zambia its name.
1950 · South Luangwa
The year Norman Carr pioneered the walking safari here. Locals still call it the Valley of the Leopard, and it remains one of the best places in Africa to find one.
Copperbelt
Ndola, the province's capital, sits at the heart of one of the world's richest copper regions. It's also where Petros grew up, and the reason this whole site leans orange.

Your Guide
Petros guides every Lusaka Compass Safaris trip in person, with no rotating staff and no hand-off to someone else on the day. He grew up in Zambia's Copperbelt and plans each route himself, from the market stalls he actually shops at to the quiet corner of the museum worth slowing down for.
Ask him anything along the way. Guests keep coming back for the pace as much as the places: private, unhurried, and shaped around whoever's in the car that day.
